Common Loon
When creating this print I wanted to allow the viewer to feel what it was like to sit on the rocky point and watch this loon dive over and over to feed this growing chick. The blues of the water are gorgeous and you will love the crispness of the photo when you get up close and personal with this loon family. The angle of this shot is quite unique, looking right down the chicks mouth as it’s about to take a small fish from the parent.
I took this photo on the second day of a backcountry canoe trip. It had been a really long day of travelling and I was exhausted when I got into camp. After setting up camp I made myself dinner and saw a family of loons swimming a ways off the rocky point. I decided to take my food and camera down to the tip of the point where I sat quietly eating. As the sun was getting lower in the sky I was rewarded when they came closer and closer. The parents seemed to be successful on every dive and I was able to snap many great pics with this one being my favorite.
This picture is printed in the landscape orientation on premium mat paper.
